"Window of Opportunity"

The space below the window is often wasted both functionally and aesthetically. However, if your room is in need of extra seating, window seats can be a wonderful addition to your space. The architectural detailing of a widow seat can add character and charm to any space. Window seats are generally used for seating within a window or alcove. It can also be used for reading, completing tasks, and looking out the window. They are typically installed into a bay or bow window or niche of a roof. A custom window seat made to fit the space and style of the room will complete the look of the room; while providing storage and seating in an otherwise unused space. You can also add a trundle bed or bookshelves below it. Although, the seat is fitted below the window tons of natural light will still filtrate the room. Window seats can be a great little retreat if you need to get away. All you need is some comfortable seat cushions with an attractive view and you're good to go.

 If you decide that banquette seating will work for your kitchen be sure to take full advantage of your window and build a window seat. This will create a spot for your breakfast nook.

When considering design, you have to determine the aesthetics and function of your window seat. Just remember you don't have to use cushions on your window seat. The choice is up to you. But, it may be easier to not have cushions, especially if it's being used for eating purposes.

Architectural millwork can also be added to your window seat. So, if you need additional storage you can build custom cabinetry for storage. It can also serve as additional closet space if you don't have enough room.

If your room has a bay or bow window take full advantage of the space by adding a wrap-a-round window seat. This will definitely add charm and lots of character to your space.

Like most homes, corner spaces can be very tricky when it comes to design. However, a window seat is a great design solution to dealing with the space. Even if your space is small don't be afraid of taking full advantage of a window seat.

If traffic flow is an issue window seats are a perfect design solution and space saver. They are very compact and do not require lots of space.



A window seat meant can have a minimum of 22 inches deep, but if space allows, 30 to 36 inches is more comfortable, with at least 36 inches side to side.
Your window seat does not have to conform to a typical rectangular or square shape. You can have a circular shaped window seat if your space permits.

There are many options many options for window seating. However, your window shape will dictate the type design you will be able to use.

When selecting your seat cushions be sure to choose pillows that will not distract from the windows.

You should also select proper lighting for this space as well. You don't want to select a fixture that will not be proportionate to the window.

There are many types of storage options you can use with a window seat design. Having storage compartments is a great way to hide items. If you are on a modest budget, baskets can be used instead of drawers.

Trundle beds is also a great design feature with window seats, especially if your kids love having sleepovers.

Regardless of where your window seat is located in your house, the idea is to compliment your window with pops of color and style.  Once you have determined where the location will be the design options are limitless.

  1. you have presented a remarkable selection of day beds... the one along the widow is best.... except of these daybeds... futons and leather sofa beds are also remarkable at times.
